Story does not equal plot.
According to Aristotle drama has 6 main elements:

Plot (*mythos*)
Character (*ethos*)
Diction (*lexis*): speech or dialogue
Thought (*dianoia*): also ‘Theme’
Spectacle (*opsis*): visual effect (scenary, costume, etc)
Song (*melos*): narration (individual or chorus); musical score

Plot may be problematic in interactive fiction. But interactive media are potentially *better* at the other 5 narrative elements than any other media.
