--- title: TOMÉ created: 2026-08-14 12:33 updated: 2026-08-14 12:33 revision: 1 author: Auriea summary: "new page: TOMÉ, the little cutting bench" --- [[TROY]] TOMÉ (τομή, "a cut, a section") — the little cutting bench: a single-file image prep tool for the small edits a downloaded or captured image needs before it becomes a [[METOPE]] stamp, a [[DISEGNO]] collage piece, or a [[KINEMA]] frame. Take any image; give back a clean transparent PNG. One less reason to open Photoshop. The whole viewport is a self-healing cutting mat, gridded edge to edge. The grid is drawn in image space — its lines are real measurements of the image, in px, cm, or mm — and transparent pixels show the mat straight through: no checkerboard anywhere. ![the wand has taken the sky out — the cutting mat shows through where the image is now transparent](https://auriea.art/shots/tome-1.jpg) ## The tools on the rail - **Wand** — tap a colour to make it transparent; *connected* (only the touching blob) or *global* (everywhere in the image). - **Lasso** — draw a loop; keep the inside or cut it away. - **Erase / Restore** — brush pixels away to transparent; brush the original back where you took too much. - **Crop** and **Trim** — a dragged rectangle, or trim straight to the content's bounding box. - **Rotate & flip** — swing the sheet to any angle with a finger, judged level against the mat grid; 90° turns and mirrors. - **Adjust** — levels and colour balance, previewed live, committed on apply. - **Lines** — make ragged line art solid and uniform: despeckle, thin to the centreline, infer the breaks, re-grow every stroke to one width. - **B&W** — grayscale, custom channel mix, or hard 1-bit for stamp masks. - **AI** — background removal and upscale (fal.ai). Nothing destructive happens until you apply; previews are computed to the side, and undo keeps the last dozen states. ## The bench next door The **kolla →** button sends the current cut straight to [[KOLLA]], the paste-up table, as a new layer — and KOLLA's **← tomé** button sends its flattened sheet back here to be cut. Two benches, one workshop, one click apart. Lives in TROY/TOME (tome.html, port 8782), deployed at https://auriea.art/tome.html [[tag:ai]]
