KOLLA
KOLLA (κόλλα, "glue" — the word collage starts here) — the paste-up table beside TOME's cutting bench. A very simple layer stack with blend modes: drop images onto a sheet, slide them around, pinch to scale and turn, blend, flatten, export. One HTML file, no dependencies, no server. It wears the same cutting-mat design as TOMÉ: the whole viewport is the deep-green self-healing mat, the sheet sits on it with a drop shadow and a dashed cut-line edge, and transparent areas show the mat straight through.
What it does
- Pieces — drop, paste, or open any number of images; each lands on the sheet as its own piece. The first image defines the sheet's size.
- The stack — layer cards along the right edge, top of the list = top of the pile. Tap to select, eye to hide, a small gold badge names any non-normal blend.
- Blend modes — all sixteen (multiply, screen, overlay, difference, hue, luminosity…) as a chip row, plus a per-piece opacity slider. Blending happens against the layers beneath only, never against the mat.
- Moving — drag a piece to slide it; a second finger on it scales and turns it around the pinch. Drag the bare mat to pan, pinch the mat to zoom. On the desk: arrows nudge,
[]turn,-=scale, space pans, ⌘Z undoes. - Stack ops — bring forward / send back, duplicate, merge ↓ (paste one piece down onto the one beneath), flatten, png ↓.
- ✂ cutout — AI background removal for one piece (fal.ai, the same key TOMÉ uses).
- Tap-to-lift — the ai tool's pointer: tap anything on the sheet and SAM segmentation lifts just that object onto its own layer, in place, ready to drag away. Scissors that know where the edges are.
- Fuse — re-dream the whole sheet as one image (img2img at low drift) so the pasted pieces come to share light and grain; the result lands on top as a new layer you can blend or discard.
- Expand — flatten the sheet and outpaint past its edges on all four sides; the sheet grows.
The bench next door
TOMÉ and KOLLA are two benches in one workshop, one click apart. TOMÉ's kolla → button opens the paste-up table and sends the current cut along as a new piece; KOLLA's ← tomé button opens the cutting bench and sends the flattened sheet back to be cut, trimmed, or adjusted. The handoff is a cross-window message with the pixels riding along — it works locally and live alike.
