As the picture reproduced, which Durand certainly took from Barbier de Montault's work, the labyrinth had already been seriously damaged, and a miserable restoration had led him to lose the original course. The archaeologist Rodolfo Lanciani , in his work " Roma Cristiana e Pagana " (1892), mentions this labyrinth and states that it was "destroyed during the restoration of 1867".
